<여긴 아무것도 볼 게 없어요>는 제목의 의미와는 반대로 볼 게 무척 많은 영화이다. 리스본 외곽, 순환도로와 공항 사이에 끼어있는 베드타운인 루미아르는 코비드 상황이 맞물려 그야말로 인적이 드문 동네다. 영화는 별다른 것 없는 일상이 이어지는 그곳을 이미지와 사운드 구성만으로 동화 같은 곳으로 탈바꿈시킨다.

무료한 현실이 어린아이 같은 상상과 결합하자 반복되는 규칙적 소음마저 리드미컬한 음악이 되고, 거리를 하릴없이 쏘다니는 고양이, 하늘을 가로지르는 비행기, 무료한 사람들의 모습은 세심한 구도와 디자인으로 인해 한 폭의 그림처럼 새로운 감각으로 다가온다.

자크 타티의 영화처럼, 모든 일상은 때로 예술이 된다. 일상의 관찰자에게 바치는 찬가는 후반부 동화처럼 하늘에 떠 있는 커다란 달의 이미지로 절정을 이룬다.

At the periphery of Lisbon, stuck between the city’s beltway and the airport there is a place where nothing ever happens : Lumiar. In this area, time feels suspended. The greatest full-moon eclipse of the year is about to happen, but it won’t be visible from there.

A police officers stands on the road, with no traffic to control. The voice of a young girl in an intercom echoes through the streets. The film invites the viewer to reconnect to a childlike sense of wonder and imagination, when boredom was a blessing.

니콜라 부체스

벨기에 브뤼셀 출신 다큐멘터리 영화감독이다. 브뤼셀의 INSAS에서 영화 연출을 전공하고, 닥노매즈에서 다큐멘터리 연출 석사 학위를 받았다. <여긴 아무것도 볼 게 없어요>는 그의 졸업 작품이다.
