10년 전 여고생 시절 성폭행을 당한 아픈 기억이 있는 정원은 결혼해 행복한 가정을 꿈꾸던 중 범인이 검거되었다는 연락을 받는다. 간신히 평온을 되찾았던 그녀의 삶은 다시 소용돌이에 휩싸인다.
<비밀의 정원>은 성폭행 피해자 혹은 가해자보다는 주변 인물에 초점을 맞춘 작품이다. 그녀의 과거를 알지 못했던 남편 성우의 혼란, 사건 이후 그녀를 부모처럼 돌봤던 이모 내외의 분노. 성범죄의 특수성과 트라우마의 영향력에도 불구하고 주변인들의 연대와 애정이 어떻게 치유의 길로 향하는지, 영화는 담담하게 설파하고 있다.

Jeong-won, a married woman, was sexually assaulted in her high school days. The news of the arrest of the perpetrator brings back old memories.
Secret Garden is rather unique in its perspective, focusing less on victims or perpetrators of sexual crimes than on people around them: the confusion of Seong-woo, Jeong-won’s husband, who was not aware of her past and the rage of Jeong-won’s aunt and her husband, who took care of Jeong-won after the incident.
Though sexual crimes are sensitive in nature, as is the influence of the trauma, the film gives a matter-of-fact account of how bonds and affection of those close to victims can lead to healing.
