2017 Presidential Elections: Corruption Nightmares & Democratic Dreams!

In the heavy stream of the South Korea’s 19th Presidential Election, a good swimmer will be able to reach the winning line, get the golden medal, and announced a “Champion”, but would that be the ending scene? For the first time, the new president elected on May 9th, and stepping into office that same day, will feel a huge burden on his shoulders. Now it is clear that it is no longer enough to be politically honest, it is the air around you that must be honest, too. The hard walk which the country passed for the previous months makes it a tough task for the new leader to rebuild trust in the hearts divided enough, and shocked a lot as well.

The very first line that must be heard is the strong stand and support of democracy. Now it is a legacy to be rooted in all minds; the image of a stable country facingunstable ones, a democratic government in a world of dictatorships, with clean hands officials and authorities among dragons of corruption with bloody gloves.

That test has been known and shown recently in the Middle East, when Egyptians crossed the red lines and removed the corrupted head of the governing Mubarak family. But it seems it needed a miracle to cut the remaining ones. The two Egyptian revolutions; Jan 25, June 30, both failed because those trees of corruption succeeded for thirty year of dictatorships, to spread their roots deep enough to grow automatically,so the hard lesson in front of the new South Korean leader is to continue the mission of the people who forced the impeached president to be removed from the political scene. Korean Peoplemade step 1, but the next steps have to be continued.

But I believe that the most important step is sending a wind of relief, courage, belief and trust into the hearts of people, this is the moment of unity, but we are still in danger, not only from the corrupted factors among us, but also from the politically corruptedcountries, as well. The united people who suffered a lot from corruption nightmares is eager to enjoy the democratic dreams!

After 1952 Revolution in Egypt the Egyptian young man of the army; Gamal Abdel Nasser, succeeded to gather Arabs around him, not only Egyptians. He started good education, pioneering factories, avant-garde cultural movements, and military industries. It looked like a dream came true. But his false choices of the people around him forced his era to face catastrophic mistakes. He sent troops to fight abroad in Yemen against Saudi Arabia, he uncovered the Egyptian troops in Sinai, and he passed away leaving a partially occupied country. So, it was not enough for Nasser to be a good clever man with a vision, to unite the third world, but it needed, further, to look very closer, and test the people in his own office.

The new South Korean must look for a new era for himself and his own country, alike. The role of the Republic of Korea must not be that only of a mega industrial power, or a country with white hands to help poor, alone. I believe this is the age of decision makers, the time of a man who brings peace and happiness to the world beyond his boarders. Arabs waited a lot from the previous South Korean General Secretary of the UN, and may be a leader from the same country would be more helpful, to stop the many wars and bring peace to the many battlefields of the region.

These are also democratic dreams to be fulfilled, as well, and needs a brave new leader who keeps human peace and happiness in mind.
