남프랑스의 해변 마을. 혼수상태에 있는 어머니가 예전에 좋아하던 파바로티의 아리아를 불러주며 오페라에 대한 사랑을 키워가는 14세 소년 누르.

아픈 어머니와 거친 형들 사이에서 부대끼는 삶을 살던 그는 방학 동안 학교에서 청소 아르바이트를 하다 여름방학 특강 오페라 클래스에서 강사이자 오페라 가수인 사라의 눈에 띄게 된다.

사라는 누르의 재능과 열망을 북돋아주고 새로운 길을 열어주려 한다. 눈부신 남프랑스의 햇살 아래 펼쳐지는 <빌리 엘리어트>를 연상시키는 따뜻하고 유쾌한 영화 <라 트라비아타>는 음악에 심취한 소년 누르의 이야기를 통해 삶을 위로하는 예술의 아름다움과, 스승과 제자의 관계로 대변되는 관계의 소중함을 이야기하고 있다.

Nour, a 14-year-old boy, is enjoying the beginning of the summer holidays in the South of France. He is the youngest of four brothers. They live together in a council estate, taking turns caring for their mother who is in a coma.

She used to love Italian Opera, so Nour plays it for her, and develops a passion for that music. Between community work and rising tensions at home, Nour dreams of escaping to a faraway place. When he crosses paths with Sarah, an Opera singer teaching summer classes, he finally finds the opportunity to come out of his shell and explore new horizons.

요한 만차

배우와 극장감독으로 시작해 2012년엔 영화를 연출했다. 두 번째 단편 <헤디&사라>(2017)는 프랑스 비평가협회 단편경쟁 부문에 후보로 선정되었다. <라 트라비아타>는 그의 첫 장편이다.

A French film director, started out as an actor. He firstly directed the film in 2012 and second short film, Hédi & Sarah (2017), nominated at the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics. This film is his first feature film.
