OPEC, 유가 하락해도 감산 안할 것
OPEC이 최근 열린 회의에서 하루 생산량을 3천만 배럴로 유지하기로 결정했다. 이에 관해 이라크와 아랍은 비상대책회의 설치를 역설한 반면, OPEC내 실세로 통하는 사우디아라비아와 쿠웨이트는 OPEC 회원국이 아닌 다른 나라들이 생산량을 줄여도 OPEC은 생산량을 줄이지 않을 것이라 전했다. 알리 알-나이미 사우디아라비아 석유장관은 <미들 이스트 이코노믹 서베이>와 인터뷰에서 생산량 감축으로 가격을 유지해 온 OPEC의 기존 입장을 버리고 시장점유율을 고수하는 새로운 정책을 펴 나갈 것이라고 밝혔다.
Gulf OPEC members refuse to cut oil output
Oil-rich Gulf states vow not to cut oil production, despite a glut in global supplies and plummeting oil prices. Powerful OPEC members Saudi Arabia and Kuwait said on Sunday they would not cut production even if non-OPEC members reduced their output, while Iraq and the United Arab Emirates shrugged off calls for an emergency meeting of the 12-nation cartel. OPEC opted to stick with a production level of 30 million barrels per day last month, despite prices falling by almost 50 percent since June. The global oil market has become increasingly competitive in recent years with the surge in shale and sand oil production from countries outside OPEC.
인도, 630톤 대형 로켓 발사 성공
인도가 당국 역사상 최대 규모 로켓 발사에 성공했다. 이번 발사는 유인 캡슐이 대기권에 다시 진입하면서 발생하는 고온을 견딜 수 있을 것인가를 실험하기 위한 것으로, 유인 우주선 개발에 필요한 캡슐 발사 실험도 함께 진행했다. 인도는 그 동안 가벼운 중량의 로켓 발사를 시도해왔으나 경쟁국들의 로켓 규모를 앞지르진 못했다. 인도가 상업 위성 발사 시장을 선점할 수 있을지에 대해 귀추가 주목된다.
India’s biggest space rocket lifts off
India successfully launched its biggest ever rocket, including an unmanned capsule which could one day send astronauts into space, as the country ramps up its ambitious space programme. The rocket, designed to carry heavier communication and other satellites into higher orbit, blasted off from Sriharikota in the southeast state of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. Although India has successfully launched lighter satellites in recent years, it has struggled to match the heavier loads sent up by other countries. The new rocket, weighing 630 tonnes and capable of carrying four tonnes, is a boost for India’s attempts to grab a greater slice of the $300bn global space market.
중국-태국, 협력관계 강화
중국 총리 리커창과 태국 총리 프라윳 찬-오차가 지난 19일과 20일 태국 방콕에서 열린 정상회담에 참석했다. 지난 19일 열린 회의에서 리커창 총리는 태국의 교육 강화와 광물 자원 개발 등을 언급하였고 프라윳 챤-오차 태국총리 또한 이에 대한 중국의 협력을 환영한다고 밝혔다. 리 총리는 태국 내 860km에 달하는 철도 건설을 계약하고 상호 교역량을 1천억 달러로 확대하기로 하는 등 경제 협력 강화에 힘쓰고 있다.
China, Thailand confirm closer relationship
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has met with interim Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to confirm closer economic cooperation between the 2 countries. The 2 leaders held talks in Beijing on Monday. This is their second meeting in 4 days, following talks in Thailand. Li stressed that the relationship between the 2 countries is important for maintaining regional stability. China’s state-run Xinhua news agency reported Li asked for Thailand’s support in the study and exploitation of mineral resources in the country, and that Prayut welcomed Chinese investment. They agreed at last week’s meeting to cooperate in a project to build an 860-kilometer railway in Thailand.
