US: Jewish group funds honeymoons to Israel
American honeymooners could be treated to trip to Israel, as long as one of them is Jewish. It’s part of an initiative by a US organization, Honeymoon Israel, which wants to encourage non-Jewish partners to engage with Israel and Judaism. The trip will include visits to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and couples will be guests of an Israeli family. The aim is to build a “personal connection to Israel and to Judaism,”
Honeymooners will start arriving in 2015, with groups of couples from the US cities of Los Angeles and Phoenix being the first to benefit.

Peking Opera adapted into 3D thriller
Half a century after its debut, the revolutionary Peking Opera Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy is staging a contemporary comeback－as a 3-D film epic.
Questions swirled around distributor Bona Film Group’s announcement two years ago that the film would be directed by Hong Kong martial arts filmmaker Tsui Hark－a Vietnam native educated in the United States, who didn’t seem to have a cultural connection to the production.

China’s largest coal power plant violating air pollution levels every week
China’s largest coal-fired power plant has been violating national emission standards for chemicals that cause dangerous fine particulate matter pollution. The Waigaoqiao coal-fired power plant located in Shanghai has been violating China’s national standards for nitrogen oxides every week since new standards came into force in July.
Two of the Waigaoqiao plant, which has a capacity of 1,800MW, has been emitting nitrogen oxides in excess of emission standards.
