[20th 부산국제영화제] 인도 아누락 카시압 “박찬욱, 김기덕 감독 영향 많이 받아”
영화학도이자 장차 영화감독을 꿈꾸는 아시아엔의 파키스탄 출신 라훌 아이자즈 기자가 부산국제영화제를 찾았다. 그는 5일부터 4박5일간 부산에 머물며 그간 국내 매체가 주목하지 않던 다양한 아시아 영화와 영화인들을 소개할 예정이다. ?편집자
[아시아엔=라훌 아이자즈 기자?·번역 김아람 기자] 인도의 아누락 카시압 감독이 부산을 찾았다. 올해 부산국제영화제 ‘뉴커런츠’ 부문 심사위원을 맡은 그는 작년 ‘제16회 도빌아시아영화제 심사위원상’을 수상했고, 지난 2013년에는 ‘프랑스 문화예술공로훈장 기사장’을 수여 받았다.
아누락 감독은 “인도 독립영화들이 한국을 포함한 전세계에서 상영되며 좋은 평을 얻어 기쁘다”며 “영화에 대한 뜨거운 열정을 부산에서 느끼고있다”고 부산국제영화제에 참석한 소감을 전했다.
그는 “모름지기 영화감독은 자신의 목소리를 낼 수 있어야 한다. 다른 이의 의견에 휘둘리다 실패하는 사례들을 봤다”며 “그렇다고 해서 다른 감독들에게 이를 강요해서도 안된다”고 전했다.
아누락 감독은 영화 ‘배틀로얄’(2000)을 연출한 후카사쿠 킨지 감독과 한국의 박찬욱, 김기덕 감독의 영향을 많이 받았다. 이처럼 아시아 영화에서 많은 영감을 받아온 그는 한국영화에 대해 “한국은 유구한 역사와 함께 아픔을 간직한만큼 영화 속에서 등장하는 ‘한(恨)의 정서’가 매력적으로 다가온다”고 밝혔다.

Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap at BIFF: Filmmakers need to find their own voice
Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is currently in Busan, as part of jury for the New Currents at Busan International Film Festival.
The Asia N journalist Rahul Aijaz caught up with Mr. Kashyap at the festival. Talking about indie filmmakers in India, Mr. Kashyap said he is happy because new Indian independent films are getting?screened across the world and receiving positive responses.
Kashyap talked about filmmakers needing to find their own voice. He says he learnt from mistakes of other filmmakers that as a producer, one shouldn’t try to make their films through other people. You need “let people find their own voice.”
Kashyap said he has been influenced by a large number of filmmakers. Talking about Asian cinema influences, he said he was inspired by Japanese filmmaker Kinji Fukasaku and a lot of Korean cinema that came later, including Park Chan-wook and Kim Ki-duk. He says, Korean cinema is fascinating because of?Korea’s rich history, including the invasions and the struggles that Koreans went through.
Seeing the energy and film related activities in Busan, Kashyap said he is excited to be here and be a part of this great festival.
