[해외여행] 필리핀 최고 관광지 ‘보라카이’와 ‘팔라완’서 이 봄을

필리핀에선 이 두 지역이 인기가 가장 많고 뛰어난 자연경관을 자랑한다. 외국 관광객들은 오염되지 않은 자연과 신선한 환경에 매력을 느끼곤 한다.

순백색 해변과 파란 바다의 눈부신 조화

마닐라에서 한 시간 떨어진 보라카이는 순백색의 해변과 파란 바닷물로 마치 천국에 온 듯한 느낌으로 눈을 뗄 수 없다.

최고급 호텔이나 안락한 소규모 숙박시설 어디서든 맑은 공기와 시원한 파도를 즐길 수 있다. 싱싱한 해산물도 일품이다. 보라카이에서는 파티가 이어지고 해변을 걷거나 창공에 뜬 달을 감상하면서 밤 새는 줄 모른다. 이곳이 보라카이를 방문해 보면 자연이 필리핀에게 준 최고의 선물임을 알게 될 것이다.

경외로움 그 자체?팔라완?

팔라완은 아름다운 문화유산과 자연 명소가 많아 보라카이와는 또 다른 경험을 할 수 있다.

무엇보다 푸에르토프린세사 시를 관통하는 지하를 흐르는 강은 세계 7대자연경관으로 선정될 만큼 뛰어난 관광지다. 지하강 안에는 수천 개의 종유석이 여러 모양을 갖고 관광객을 맞고 있다. 한마디로 신비롭고 매혹적이다.

팔라완 북쪽 코론(Coron)에선 원시림 안에 자리하고 있는 드넓은 호수와 기기묘묘한 형상의 수석들을 볼 수 있다. 민박도 가능해 독특한 문화체험을 할 수 있다.

혼다 만(Honda Bay)은 망그로브와 해양동물 서식지로 유명하다. 수상 레스토랑에서 신선한 해산물을 만끽할 수 있다. 이곳에서 빼놓을 수 없는 게 반딧불이 투어다. 3~5월 5km에 이르는 강변을 따라 수백만 마리의 반딧불이를 만날 수 있다. 아쉬운 것은 예약을 해야만 가능하다는 점이다.

The Wonders of Palawan …

This province is a totally different experience.You really can’t find any excuse not to see the many wonderful cultural and natural attractions in Palawan.

First, there’s the Underground River in Puerto Princesa City.Selected as one of the Seven Wonders of the New World, the cave system is a 10-minute boat ride from the main port.You are welcomed to a forest with monkeys and lizards and colourful birds.

The journey inside the underground river is like a dream, where natural rock formations created by thousands of years of geologic process produce wonderful domes and stone-decorations.The place is both captivating and mysterious. only realize that the 45-minute trip has gone too fast.

In the northern part of Palawan is Coron, where you can visit the rock formations and pristine mountain lakes.The visitor is hosted by local families or even indigenous communities.There are places in Coron that are so isolated, sacred and quiet that visitors can only be accommodated for a few times a year.

Then there is the Honda Bay area where mangroves and marine animals in their natural habitat are the main feature.Enjoy fresh and tasty seafood in the floating restaurants.

Finally, there is the firefly tour to cap the night.This one, you have to reserve in advance and is best taken during the months of March to May.Tour the almost 5kilometer river and be mesmerized by millions of fireflies along the river banks.On a good night, the whole place is literally lit up by fireflies.And you have Sister Moon watching over you with her moonshine.

Experienced boatmen guide you and explain the nature of the firefly and its relationship to the river, the forest and humans.One feels like in a ream when you float slowly in a dark but quiet river, and then be guided by the blinking lights.

The firefly tour is especially relevant, as local communities own, manage and benefit directly from this social enterprise.
