[전문] 필리핀 한국교민단체 고 지익주씨 재판 관련 성명

재필리핀한국교민단체연합회(회장 심재신·이하 연합회)는 오는 5월 18일 최종 선고가 예정돼 있는 고 지익주씨 납치·살해사건과 관련해 “지난 7년 가까이 재판과정에서 보여준 필리핀 정부와 사법부의 노력과 수고에 대해 감사하게 생각한다”며 “필리핀 정부와 사법부가 공정하고 정의로운 판결을 내릴 것을 믿는다”고 밝혔다.

고 지익주씨는 2016년 10월 18일 필리핀 경찰들에 의해 납치돼 경찰청 본청에서 잔혹하게 살해됐다.

연합회는 “이번 사건을 통해 한국과 필리핀 사이의 상호이해와 협력이 더욱 강화될 것을 기대한다”며 “이 사건은 생명과 존엄에 대해 큰 관심을 갖게 했다”고 말했다.

연합회는 또 “고 지익주씨 유족과 한국 교민들 그리고 대한민국 및 필리핀 국민 모두 이 사건 결과에 관심을 가져줄 것”을 당부하고 “우리가 사랑하며 살아가는 여기 필리핀에서 더 이상 이러한 사건이 발생하지 않기를 간절히 바란다”고 덧붙였다.

연합회는 “재필리핀 한인단체들은 법의 공정한 판결을 기대하면서 필리핀 국민들과 함께 정의롭고 평화로운 사회가 되도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

2016년 10월 18일, 한국 교민인 고 지익주씨가 필리핀 경찰들에 의해 납치되어 경찰청 본청에서 잔혹하게 살해되었습니다. 이번 사건은 우리 모두에게 큰 충격과 슬픔을 안겨주었으며, 우리 교민들은 고 지익주씨와 그의 가족에게 깊은 애도의 뜻을 전합니다.

그리고 우리는 이번 사건에 대해 필리핀 정부와 사법부가 공정하고 정의로운 판결을 내릴 것을 믿고 있습니다. 지난 7년간의 재판과정에서 보여준 필리핀 정부와 사법부의 노력과 수고에 대해 우리는 감사하게 생각하고 있습니다. 이번 사건을 통해 한국과 필리핀 사이의 상호 이해와 협력이 더욱 강화될 것을 기대합니다.

오는 5월 18일, 최종 선고가 진행될 예정입니다. 이번 사건의 결과는 고 지익주씨의 가족과 한국 교민들 그리고 대한민국 모든 국민들과 모든 필리핀 국민들이 지켜봐야 할 것입니다. 우리는 이번 사건으로부터 모든 사람들에 대한 생명과 존엄에 대해 더욱 큰 관심을 갖게 될 것입니다. 더불어 모든 한인교민들과 필리핀 국민들 사이의 상호이해와 협력을 더욱 강화할 수 있게 될 것입니다.

Title: Statement on the Case of Mr. Ji Ikjoo by the United Korean community Associations in the Philippines

We are a community of Korean living in the Philippines.

On October 18th, 2016, Mr. Ji Ikjoo, a Korean national, was abducted and brutally murdered by polices at their headquarters of Philippine National Police.

This incident has brought great shock and sorrow to us all, and we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Ji’s family.

We believe that the Philippine government and judiciary will deliver a fair and just verdict in this case.

We are grateful for the efforts and hard work of the Philippine government and judiciary during the past seven years of trial proceedings.

We hope that this incident will lead to stronger mutual understanding and cooperation between Korea and the Philippines.

The final sentence of the case is scheduled to be delivered on May 18th.

The outcome of this case should be monitored by Mr. Ji’s family, Korean in Philippines and all Korea and Philippine citizens.

We will pay greater attention to the dignity and value of all human lives as a result of this incident.

In addition, we hope that this incident will enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between all Korean national and Philippine citizens.

We fervently hope that such incidents will no longer occur in the Philippines, where we live and love.

Korean associations in the Philippines will strive to become a just and peaceful society with the Philippine citizens, while looking forward to a fair verdict under the law.
