흔히 미국은 기회의 땅이자 이민자들의 나라로 불린다. 그러나 이민자들에 대한 노골적인 배척이 횡행하고 있는 현재의 미국은 어린 이민자들의 현재와 미래를 위협하는 씻을 수 없는 상처와 차별의 기억을 안겨주고 있다.
누군가에게는 어린 시절의 실수로 치부될 사건이 이민자들에게는 평생을 따라다니는 낙인이 된다.
30세 이하의 이민자들이 미국에서 겪었던 사건들에 대한 생생하고 절박한 인터뷰를 바탕으로 한 이 영화는 그들의 목소리의 톤, 감정의 파고를 애니메이션 이미지와 사운드의 파동으로 표현한다.
음악과 이미지의 인도 아래, 그들의 이야기는 특정한 개인이 아닌, 차별의 희생자들이 겪고 있는 국가의 폭력에 대한 감각적 초상으로 변모한다.
We Are Here is an Audio-visual portrait of what it’s like to walk this land in the shoes of an immigrant under 30. It’s a moment of reflection that reminds us of the people who immigrated to the United States as children. Accompanied by animation and music, the fragments of their stories highlight their presence.

멕시코시티 출신의 영화감독 자매로, LA에 기반을 두고 있는 제작사 271 필름스의 설립자이다. <위 아 히어>는 공동으로 연출한 데뷔작이며, 선댄스영화제에서 월드 프리미어로 공개되었다.
