사랑에는 국경도 나이도 인종도 없다는 말이 있다. <3000마일의 사랑>의 두 주인공의 이야기가 바로 그렇다. 체코에 사는 독신 여성 즈덴카는 장애를 지닌 중년의 백인 여성이다. 온라인 게임을 하다 그녀는 생각지도 못한 인생의 동반자를 만나게 된다.
파키스탄에 사는 젊은 컴퓨터 공학자 타비시는 나이도, 인종도, 사는 곳도 정반대인 그녀와 사랑에 빠진다. 그러나 이 기적같은 로맨스는 곧 장벽에 부딪힌다. 체코 이민 신청서를 낸 타비시의 비자가 거부되고, 두 사람은 무려 5년 동안 다른 대륙에 떨어진 채 함께하기 위해 노력해야 한다.
영화보다 더 영화같은 스토리를 지닌 다큐멘터리 <3000마일의 사랑>은 두 사람의 로맨스를 극적으로 포장하기보다는 사랑을 완성하기 위한 일상에 더 초점을 맞춘다. 평범한 결혼 생활을 소망했던 연인들은 과연 소박한 꿈을 이룰 수 있을까.
When Zdenka, a single woman in Czech Republic, started playing online games with strangers, little did she know that it would change her life. Neither did Tabish, a computer scientist a world away in Pakistan. Their friendship turned to romance, and after flying to Sri Lanka to meet in real life, the committed couple married. But 5 years after Tabish filled out the Czech immigration application, the two remain apart, forced to live their married life on Skype because the Czech government rejects Tabish’s entry requests. With grit, humour and dogged perseverance, the couple digs in to battle a faceless bureaucracy.

카테르지나는 프라하에서 활동하는 다큐멘터리 영화 감독이자 제작자이다. 주로 독립 다큐멘터리를 다루는 제작사 보헤미안 프로덕션을 설립했다. 아사드는 에미상을 수상한 영화감독이자 촬영감독, 사진작가이며, 픽션과 논픽션을 포함한 광범위한 작품들에 촬영감독으로 참여했다.

Hager is a documentary filmmaker and producer based in Prague. Her works include Children of Flamenco (2013) and Children Online (2017). Faruqi is an Emmy awarded filmmaker and cinematographer. He has worked extensively as DOP and shot a number of award-winning films.
