아시아 40개국 기자가 만드는 ‘아시아엔’ 콘텐츠 ‘다음 뉴스’서도 검색된다
<아시아엔> ‘다음뉴스’ 검색제휴 심사 통과···네이버 이어 국내 2대 주요포털서 뉴스서비스?
[아시아엔=편집국] 한국어·영어·아랍어 등 3개국어로 발행되는 <아시아엔>이 ‘다음’(www.daum.net) 포털(카카오)과 뉴스 검색제휴를 맺고 뉴스 서비스를 제공하게 됐다. <아시아엔>은 최근 실시된 ‘네이버-카카오 뉴스제휴평가위원회(이하 뉴스제휴평가위)’ 뉴스검색제휴 평가를 통과했다고 뉴스제휴평가위가 17일 발표했다.
이에 따라 독자들은 <아시아엔> 홈페이지뿐 아니라 다음(카카오) 포털을 통해서도 <아시아엔> 기사를 검색할 수 있게 됐다. <아시아엔>은 앞서 창간(2011년 11월11일) 이듬해 네이버 포털 검색제휴에 이어 지난 2월7일부터 ‘네이버 뉴스스탠드’ 서비스를 실시하고 있다.
네이버·다음 뉴스검색 통과매체 46개, 신청매체 686개 중 6.71%
뉴스제휴평가위에 따르면 이번 다음(카카오) 뉴스검색제휴에는 모두 324개 언론사가 신청해 31곳(9.57%)이 평가를 통과했다.
뉴스제휴평가위는 “지난해 11월 14일부터 2주간 ‘뉴스검색제휴’ 신청을 받은 결과 총 686개(네이버 582개, 카카오 324개, 중복 220개) 매체의 신청서가 접수됐다”며 “이 가운데 1차 서류심사를 통과한 네이버 461개, 카카오 245개 등 총 500개(중복 206개) 매체를 대상으로 지난 3개월간 평가 결과 네이버 36개, 카카오 31개 등 46개(중복 21개) 매체가 통과했다”고 밝혔다.
뉴스제휴평가위원회는 “최초 신청기준으로 볼 때 6.71%가 평가를 통과한 것”이라며 “제휴 규정에 따라 △기사 생산량 △자체기사 비율 등의 ‘정량평가(30%)’와 △저널리즘 품질 요소 △윤리적 요소 △수용자 요소 등이 포함된 ‘정성평가(70%)’가 기준이 됐다”고 설명했다.
평가위는 또 “평가작업에는 매체당 무작위로 배정된 평가위원 10명씩이 참여해 평가점수 중 최고점수와 최저점수를 제외한 평균점수가 70점 이상인 매체가 평가를 통과했다”고 덧붙였다.
한편 뉴스제휴평가위는 “다음카카오와 네이버 양사 ‘제휴매체’ 전체를 대상으로 12개월간의 누적 벌점이 6점 이상일 경우 재평가 심사대상이 된다”며 “2017년 3월 1일부터 적용할 방침”이라고 말했다.
뉴스제휴평가위 제2소위 김병희 위원장은 “이같은 방침은 기존 입점 매체가 신규 입점 매체보다 유리한 위치에서 언론활동을 하고 있다는 세간의 평가를 불식시키기 위한 것”이라며 “가장 객관적이고 공정하게 평가할 것”이라 말했다.
The AsiaN, which provides quality news in Korean, English, and Arabic, has partnered with Daum (Kakao) portal and can now be searched as a news source. The Naver-Kakao News Alliance Evaluation Committee recently assessed The AsiaN’s online articles and announced that it decided to include The AsiaN into its member circle. This will ensure a broad readership that will convey significant information regarding issues concerning all of Asia.
Daum added that this time around, out of the 324 news outlets that applied for membership, only 31 were authorized as “searchable”, which means the percent of membership access was a mere 9.57%.
The News Alliance Evaluation Committee based its assessment on 5 key premises: 1. Number of articles written 2. Ratio of articles written directly by news agency to those retrieved elsewhere (ideal rate: 30%) 3. Quality of reports 4. Ethics factor 5. Consumer “readers” factor (normal rate:70%).
When the evaluation processes began, 10 members from the committee were chosen at random to assess each news company by the 5 premises on a scale of 1 to 10. News sources that received at least a 7 or more in all categories were granted membership.
At the same time, the committee also announced that news sources that have accumulated six or more penalty points will be subject to reevaluation starting from March 1st, 2017. This procedure was created to ensure that sources that are already members will continue to provide quality news and create an environment in which the standard for reporting remains high.
