[신년사·아랍에미리트] 알막툼 총리 “2020 두바이엑스포 성공에 총력”
[아시아엔=하비브 토우미 <바레인뉴스에이전시> 기자] 새해를 맞아 빈 자이드 알 나흐얀 아랍에미리트 대통령은 먼저 2019년을 ‘관용의 해’라고 선언했다. 알 나흐얀 대통령은 이어 “지난해 우리는 국가의 성공과 국민 행복을 위한 로드맵을 만들기 위해 노력했다”며 “우리 역사상 최초로 우주인을 배출해내는 등의 많은 성과를 올렸다”고 전했다.
이와 관련해 빈 라시드 알막툼 총리는 “우리 모두는 긍정적인 에너지로 가득하며, 나는 정부의 실무팀을 자랑스럽게 생각한다”고 화답했다. 알막툼 총리는 이어 새해 첫 내각회의에서 “우리는 합리적인 낙관론을 견지한 채 새로운 10년을 바라보고 있다”며 “지난해가 여러 성공적인 결과로 가득찬 한해였을 강조하고 싶다”고 밝혔다.
그는 특히 ‘2020 두바이엑스포’를 언급하며 “이를 통해 우리는 330억달러 이상의 경제부양 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것”이라고 전망했다. <번역 송재걸 기자>

Marking the New Year, UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan first declared the past year a “year of tolerance.” Saying “We made a lot of efforts to create a road map for the success of the nation and the well-being of the people, and for the first time ever, we produced astronauts,” the President said.
Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum responded by saying, “We are all filled with positive energy and I am proud of the government’s working team.” He then continued saying “We are looking at the new decade with reasonable optimism, and I would like to stress that the past year is a year full of accomplishments,” at his first Cabinet meeting.
In 2019, the UAE launched dozens of new initiatives and projects, including the first National Strategy for Wellbeing, the Emirates Schools Establishment, allocated a fund to support and qualify Emirati jobseekers, and set out new objectives and decisions to support employment of its citizens. “We have created a new position for the UAE Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), and have issued a strategic economic resolution allowing 100 percent foreign ownership in UAE economic activities. We have also granted more than 2,500 golden residence permits to people with outstanding qualifications and investors, allowing them to be part of our success story and excellence.”
In 2019, the UAE adopted the National Space Strategy, received the flame of hope to kick off the Special Olympics and held the People of Determination Retreat.
In 2020, Dubai’s Expo 2020 global trade fair, for instance, is expected to give the UAE an economic boost of over $33 billion, according to consultants Ernst and Young.(Written by Habib Toumi)
