[2020 평창영화제] 지리산 빨치산 부대의 생생한 기록 ‘남부군’
“다시 평화!” 2020년 6월 중순, 강원도 평창에선 2020평창국제평화영화제가 열렸습니다. 코로나19로 극도의 긴장과 우려 속에 엿새간 치러졌습니다. 전 세계 주요 영화제가 취소 또는 연기되는 가운데 코로나 사태 이후 처음으로 열린 평창영화제는 안팎으로 ‘성공적’이었다는 평가를 받고 있습니다. <아시아엔>은 이번에 선을 보인 34개국 96편의 영화 가운데 선별해 독자들께 소개합니다. <편집자>
1988년 출간된 이태의 자전적 빨치산 수기를 정지영 감독이 영화화했다. 한국 전쟁영화뿐만 아니라 감독의 필모그래피에서도 분기점 역할을 하는 작품이다. 북으로부터 버림 받고 남한의 국군에게 토벌 대상이었던 지리산의 빨치산 부대. 그들이 겪었던 생생한 기록을 통해 전쟁이 우리 역사에 남긴 거대한 상처를 되짚는다. 올해 30주년을 맞이해 한국영상자료원의 리마스터링 버전이 상영된다.
North Korean Partisan in South Korea
Chung Ji-young adapted a memoir written by Lee Tae of his days as a partisan and published in 1988, into a film. The film marks a watershed in the director’s filmography as well as in the history of films about the Korean War. North Korean partisan units hiding in Mr. Jiri were deserted by the North and hunted down by the South. The vivid recording of their agony makes the audience reflect on the deep wound that the war left on Korean history. Commemorating the film’s 30th anniversary, a remastered version released by the Korean Film Archive will be shown.
