태국 공군 F-16 전투기의 공습으로 순직한 캄보디아 여군 장교의 장례식이 12일 캄보디아 반테아이민체이주 스바이체크(Svay Chek) 지역에서 거행됐다. 숨진 장교는 임신 6개월 상태였던 무트 소아본(Mut Soavorn) 중령(43)으로, 그는 지난 8일(현지시간) 태국 공군 F-16 전투기가 캄보디아 영토를 공격하는 과정에서 전선 인근에서 목숨을 잃었다.
스렝 소카(Sreng Sokha) 바난(Banan) 지역 행정구청장은 이날 장례식을 앞두고 페이스북을 통해 “지역 행정 책임자이자 동시에 개인 자격으로, 전선에서 생명을 바친 영웅 무트 소아본 중령의 유가족께 깊은 애도의 뜻을 전한다”며 “그는 반테아이민체이주 프레이찬(Prey Chan) 마을 방향, 슬라끄람(Sla Kram) 지점 전선에서 임무 수행 중 희생됐다”고 밝혔다.
한편 캄보디아 국방부는 태국군의 공격이 6일째 지속되고 있다며, 태국군이 F-16 전투기와 각종 무기, 독성 연무까지 사용해 국경 인근 민간 마을을 공격하고 있다고 밝혔다. 이로 인해 학교와 주택, 지방정부 건물 등 주요 기반시설이 피해를 입은 것으로 전해졌다.
Pregnant Cambodian Army Officer Killed in Thai F-16 Attack Laid to Rest on December 12

The funeral of a pregnant Cambodian female army officer killed in a Thai F-16 fighter jet attack was held on Friday, December 12, in Svay Chek district of Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia.
The deceased was Lieutenant Colonel Mut Soavorn, 43, who was six months pregnant at the time of her death. She was killed on December 8 (local time) during a Thai air attack involving F-16 fighter jets inside Cambodian territory near the frontline.
Banan District Governor Sreng Sokha expressed his condolences on Facebook, saying, “On behalf of the district administration and myself, I extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Army Hero Lieutenant Colonel Mut Soavorn.” He added that she “sacrificed her life on the front line in the direction of Prey Chan village at the Sla Kram point in Banteay Meanchey province.”
Meanwhile, Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense said the Thai military has continued attacks on Cambodian territory for six consecutive days, using F-16 fighter jets, various weapons, and toxic fumes. The ministry reported damage to civilian villages along the border, including schools, houses, local government buildings, and other infrastructure.
