파키스탄 내년 세계관광포럼 개최···최근 관광객 급증·비자발급도 개선

[아시아엔=나시르 아이자즈 <아시아엔> 파키스탄 지사장] 2020년 세계관광포럼이 파키스탄에서 열린다. 임란 칸 총리와 세계관광포럼 대표단은 최근 총리실에서 만나 2020년 세계관광포럼의 파키스탄 개최를 결정했다.

불루트 바그씨(Bulut Bagci) 세계관광포럼 집행위원장이 이끄는 대표단은 최근 파키스탄을 방문해 임란 칸 총리와 면담에서 내년 세계관광포럼의 파키스탄 개최를 최종 결정했다. 세계관광포럼(World Tourism Forum)은 터키의 이스탄불에 본부를 두고 세계 각지의 관광자원 개발을 맡고 있으며, 매년 한차례 연례회의를 개최하고 있다.

내년 파키스탄 이슬라마바드에서 5일간 열리는 세계관광포럼에는 1000명 이상이 참석할 예정이다.

한편 파키스탄에는 2015년 56만3000명이던 해외관광객이 2016년 96만5000명, 2017년 160만명, 그리고 지난해 190만명으로 매년 급증하고 있다.

특히 올해 초엔 임란 칸 수상이 전세계 175개국을 대상으로 하는 새로운 비자정책을 발표했다. 이에 따라 이들 국가의 파키스탄 관광 및 투자가 보다 쉽게 이뤄질 수 있게 됐다. 

특히 터키, 중국, 말레이시아, 영국, 아랍에미리트 등 5개국에 대해서는 우선 e-비자 신청 서비스가 제공될 예정이다. <번역 김선호 인턴기자>

Pakistan to host World Tourism Forum in 2020

Pakistan will host the World Tourism Forum in 2020, as was decided in a recent meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and a delegation of the World Tourism Forum.

The World Tourism Forum delegation was led by the president of its executive board – Bulut Bagci. World Tourism Forum is an Istanbul-based organization dedicated to developing tourism around the world with its annual meetings.

Over 1,000 foreigners will attend the five-day proceedings of the forum in Islamabad next year.

In 2015, Pakistan welcomed 563,000 overseas arrivals. That figure rose to 965,000 in 2016, 1.6 million in 2017 and 1.9 million last year. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a new visa policy for 175 countries to promote tourism and investments in the country.

Visitors from these countries will be able to apply for an online visa. As per the new visa policy, e-visa facility will initially be provided to five countries namely Turkey, China, Malaysia, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
