파키스탄서 부는 ‘한류 열풍’···‘대장금’ 4일부터 국영방송서 절찬리 방영

[아시아엔=나시르 아이자즈 아시아엔 파키스탄 지사장·번역 김아람 기자] 파키스탄서 한류 열풍이 불고 있다. 지난 4일부터 현지 국영방송 <PTV Home>에서 한국 인기 드라마 ‘대장금’(영어제목 ‘궁의 보석’ Jewel in the?Palace)이 절찬리 방영 중이다. 파키스탄 공용어인 우르두어가 자막으로 제공된다.
‘대장금’은 한국의 인기 드라마 중의 하나로 미국, 캐나다, 호주 등 91개국에 수출돼 방영됐을 만큼 세계적인 호응을 끌었다. 실제 인물을 모티브로 제작한 픽션으로, 여성의 사회적 진출이 어려웠던 16세기 조선시대를 배경으로 가난한 고아였던 주인공 장금이가 여성 최초의 어의(왕을 돌보는 의사)가 되는 과정을 그려냈다.
이 작품은 당시 한국 사회의 문화를 반영해 호평을 받았다. 또한 장금이 직면하는 수많은 어려움과 이를 극복해내는 과정은 현대인의 삶과도 크게 다르지 않아 현시대 전세계 팬들의 공감대를 얻고 있다.
한편, 이번 ‘대장금’ 방영으로 한국-파키스탄 양국의 문화 교류 물꼬가 트이면서 향후 더욱 활발한 교류가 이루어질 것으로 예상된다.
Pakistan Television airs Korean drama
The State-owned TV channel Pakistan Television has started airing a Korean drama serial from 4th January 2016. The PTV Home channel is?broadcasting?the Korean drama series?famously known as ‘Jewel in the?Palace’?(Dae Jang?Geum) from Monday to Saturday.
The airing of Jewel in the?Palace?on PTV Home is a big step forward in promoting cultural ties between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea. For the convenience of viewers?in Pakistan, the drama has been dubbed in Urdu language. ‘Jewel in the?Palace’?is one of the?top ten Korean drama series?of all time and has already been aired in 91 countries all over the world including the USA, Canada and Australia.
‘Jewel in the?Palace’?is based on a true story and is a historical drama set mainly in the 16th century. It follows the tale of a young and poor orphaned woman who?eventually?became the king’s first female physician in an era when women had little influence in society. In the process she overcomes challenges and intrigues and learns the secrets of cooking and medicine to cure the king of his medical problems.
The drama series has been praised for its excellent portrayal of Korean society and culture during this historical time and its?resonance?with audiences all over the world?who can?easily identify with the characters and social issues which confront many of us.
